The rectangular pyramid is a part of the installation "Unheard Voices" who was presented firstly as a singular piece at Nunnery Gallery, London. Later on, the artist decided to incorporate the pyramid  and develop the work for the final degree show at Middlesex University.

The piece is an installation that uses a variety of mediums to serve as a cenotaph. Media such as sound and technology, 3D

materials: wood, environmental materials (wax, rocks, sand), storytelling- writing elements. In ancient times, the pyramid had a

symbolistic meaning because it was the place where life met death. In the piece, the pyramid is the representation of a memorial who

was shaped in the physical form after the storytelling of her grandmother. The sound that comes from the pyramid walls is a record of her

voice while she was talking about the intergenerational trauma regarding the Second World War. The ritualistic elements can be observed

in the appearance of the tea light candles, used them by the artist in her personal prayer practice.

SOUND WORK

Here you will find a sound series with Cristina's grandmother voice who is narrating some of the most important life stories like her childhood memories, the marriage with her grandfather, the Second World War era. Her Romanian narration uses a simple and archaic vocabulary that gives a wholehearted and dynamic energy to the work.
